August 22 2008:

Longtime Tulsa KJ Carroll Lockhart checked in with an update to his schedule:

Mondays at Scotty's Bar.
Tuesdays at Mr. Luckys, Mama T's, and Magoo's Billiards.
Wednesdays at Scotty's Bar and Backyard Bar
Thursdays at Backyard.
Fridays at Mr. Luckys.
and Saturdays at Mr. Lucky's and Danny Bob's Hideout.

Carroll's new gig at Magoo's on Tuesday nights is being KJed by two longtime veterans of the karaoke scene in Tulsa - Don Price and Jeris Ford of the Tulsa band "The Bop Cats". Don and Jeris were the very first KJs in Tulsa back in the early 90s at Elephant Run. Legends for sure!

We like Carroll very much, and can't wait to check out his new show at Magoo's!

August 10 2008:

KaraokeTulsa.com now has a MySpace - www.myspace.com/karaoketulsa. Check us out, and send us a friend request, and we'll keep you updated on the latest goings-on in the karaoke world.

Our REVIEW section will be moving to the MySpace page as well - we're changing to a blog format where we'll be able to go into more detail about where we've visited and what we think, and it'll be easier for you to add your own comments as well. We've dumped all our old reviews, and are starting over fresh. We visited Fred Anderson at REMINGTON'S last night - go read about our experience!

We've also added a LESSONS area - this is a place where we'll share tips on how to be a better karaoke performer, with lessons learned from our own experience, from working KJs, and from experienced voice teachers. We hope to add additional lessons regularly.

August 6 2008:

MySpace is (quietly) testing a new service called MYSPACE KARAOKE - it's actually VERY cool! If you have a microphone attached to your computer, you can go there and instantly record yourself singing any one of hundreds of available songs, and then post your recording for others to listen to (and vote on)!  Tulsa singers - REPRESENT! Send us a link to your song and we'll post it here!

NEW CONTEST:

CLEAR CHANNEL PRESENTS . . . THE OKIE KARAOKE CONTEST! Singing sensations abound in Oklahoma, so what better place to hold the “Okie Karaoke Star” contest than at the Oklahoma State Fair (in Oklahoma City)! Clear Channel wants to find one true Okie Karaoke star among some real quality talent. Each day of the fair, station personalities will broadcast all day to encourage listeners to come to the Fair to compete for their chance to be the next Okie Karaoke Star. Stay tuned for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes… Sign up begins at 6:00pm, contest starts at 7:00pm. Must be 18 years of age or older to participate. Okie Karaoke qualifiers take place every day of the fair (Sept 11th thru Sept 20th), and Okie Karaoke Finals start at 6:00pm on Sunday, September 21st. Bring your best pipes or come cheer on a friend!

Several new dates added to the Karaoke Kalendar - including RockN The Kasbaw's new show at BUBBA'S BOAT BAR at the Riverwalk in Jenks. Festivities on Thursday nights begin at 9pm!

We'd like to to invite everybody to come and participate in our KaraokeTulsa Message Board.  We've had some pretty lively conversation there recently, and a couple of our longterm Tulsa area KJs are contributing. Come check it out and throw in your two cents!

June 25 2008:

Rich with Howling River Productions checked in with us and let us know of a new place he's
KJing called Sandite Billiards & Grille. We paid them a visit - you can check out our review on
the REVIEWS page. Rich is there on Tuesday nights, from 8-12, and it's SMOKE FREE!

Rich also reminded us that he KJs at Bucaneer Bar on Thursday nights from 9:30 to close.

June 16 2008:
We are proud to announce our first anniversary - KaraokeTulsa.com has now been online
for one year! Thanks to all who visit regularly!

The first annual SoCo's/RockNTheKasbaw/KaraokeTulsa Karaoke Competition is a wrap! There
was a great turnout to watch over 30 singers compete for two $500 first place prizes.
Congratulations to the winners - Curt and Kinsey - who celebrated their wins in the male and
female divisions by singing a KILLER rendition of "Like We Never Loved At All".

Extra special thanks to Diz and Robert from the band SNAPDRAGON for being special guest
judges for the finals - they definitely know their music, and are hella good dudes to boot!
Be sure to catch SNAPDRAGON for live band karaoke on Thursday nights at the Pour House.

Rick Berry is now permanently at Market Pub on Wednesdays and Fridays, and there is NO
karaoke at the Market Pub on Sunday nights any longer. He's also at the Sports Fan Attic on
Thursdays, and at Fishbonz on Sundays.

May 14 2008:
Longtime Tulsa KJ Rick Berry was nice enough to drop us a note, with the following updates
to his schedule:

Rick's now doing Santino's Italian Restaurant on Thursdays - Santino's has invested in their
own karaoke rig (way to go Santino's!) and Rick is helping them out.

He also picked up The Sports Fan Attic in the Farm Shopping Center a few weeks ago, and
says it's a very nice place. He KJs there on Thursdays.

And, starting June 1st, Rick will be at Fishbonz on Sundays.

Rick is a great KJ and we have a lot of fun at his shows - check them out if you get a chance!

Magoo has picked up the Million Dollar Elm Casino in Sand Springs on Thursday nights.
He also does the Million Dollar Elm on Tisdale on Tuesdays, and the Elm in Hominy on every
other Sunday.

We've discovered a new karaoke venue - Scotty's Bar and Grille at 3119 W 61st on Monday
and Wednesday nights from 7-11pm. We haven't paid them a visit yet, but they get high
marks from our friends.

Redneck Kountry has moved their Karaoke Night to Wednesdays, and Fred Anderson has
taken over KJ duties there.

Welcome to KaraokeTulsa.com! On this site, you'll find an up-to-date calendar of all the karaoke
shows in the Northeastern Oklahoma area, along with contact info and maps (when available),
show and KJ reviews, a message board where you can chat with your karaoke-singing friends,
and much more. We'll also be bringing you coverage
of local, regional, and national karaoke contests (like the annual TalentQuest competition) -
where and when to qualify, rules, and contact info for the participating venues in Tulsa,
Owasso, Jenks, Bixby, Broken Arrow, and even into the Oklahoma City area.

All that, and the best part is.......it's all FREE!

Please send us information on any karaoke shows that we may not have listed, or if something
we've listed is incorrect, we need to know that as well. The KaraokeTulsa staff does get around
and visit most of the shows on our list, but we can't be everywhere.
